Local Planning Authorities are required to undertake a formal period of public consultation, prior to deciding a planning application. This is prescribed in Article 15 of the Development Management Procedure Order.
There are separate arrangements for listed buildings which are set out in Regulation 5 and Regulation 5A of the Listed Buildings and Conservation Area Regulations 1990 (as amended).
