How can a contract be extended?

A contract can only be extended by a request for an extension of time from the contractor, if he believes that he will not be able to meet the agreed Practical Completion date, due to unforeseeable circumstances.

There is no guarantee that such an extension will always be granted by the Contract Administrator, as he will have to assess the reasons for the request and whether they are valid or it’s something that could have been avoided or managed differently without affecting the overall programme.
