Why do you want to become Chartered?

1A1 p2c questions

Chartered status confirms that an individual has the skills, knowledge, understanding and integrity to practice as a landscape professional in the UK. It gives formal recognition of professional standing, including rights across the EU.

One of the main benefits of being chartered, is the fact that you can then start your own practice.

Achieving chartered status provides employers and their clients with the confidence that a CMLI is a professional person with the necessary skills, competence and knowledge to meet their needs, whilst protecting their interests and those of the Landscape Institute (as set out in the Royal Charter and Code of Practice).

Most employers look for chartered status, or a commitment to achieving chartered status, as an indication of quality and professionalism when recruiting new staff, and restrict the management of larger projects and contracts to those in their organisation who are fully qualified.

A Landscape Architect is also aware that through achieving chartered status and continuing to act in accordance with the Rules, he/she must maintain certain levels of competence throughout the practice by carrying out Continuing Professional Development.
