When a project reaches the Tender stage, the Designer needs to put together a set of information (the tender package) which will help the tenderers make an educated quotation for realising the works.
The information provided in the tender package is a combination of technical drawings and documents and will include:
- An invitation letter to tender
- Who the employer is
- Outline of the works required
- When work will commence and an anticipated practical completion date
- The deadline of the tender return
- A list of the enclosed documents of the tender package
- Drawings (Illustrative)
- Specification (Qualitative)
- BoQ (Quantitative)
- Form of tender
- Pre-Construction Information (not always)
- Designer’s Risk Assessment (not always – sometimes part of the PCI)
Additionally, for tendering in LPAs:
- Return Envelope with only the LPA’s address printed.
