What does it mean for the LI to have been granted Royal Charter status?

The Landscape Institute was granted Royal Charter status in July 1997. This means that:

Only Members (CMLIs) and Fellows (FLIs) are allowed to use the protected title of “Chartered Landscape
Architect”.
Only registered practices can describe their practices as “Chartered Landscape Architects”.
The government has statutory duty to consult with the Landscape Institute for landscape matters.
