What does it mean for the LI to have been granted Royal Charter status?

The Landscape Institute was granted Royal Charter status in July 1997. This means that:

  • Only Members (CMLIs) and Fellows (FLIs) are allowed to use the protected title of “Chartered Landscape
    Architect”.
  • Only registered practices can describe their practices as “Chartered Landscape Architects”.
  • The government has statutory duty to consult with the Landscape Institute for landscape matters.
