What are the employer’s duties under Health And Safety At Work (HASAW)?

As an employer you need to provide a safe environment for all of your employees and make sure that you put procedures in place in case of emergency and make sure all employees are given an induction to these procedures when starting their employment. This could include appropriate desk & chair heights, undisturbed access to doors, lifting and moving heavy objects in the office and handling of electrical equipment.

A fire evacuation plan also needs to be in place either for the business of the building that the business is situated, in either case however all the employees need to be aware about evacuation procedures through an early induction.
